Rassoul and Hair
Found exclusively in the Moroccan Atlas, rassoul is a type of clay rich in nutrients, silica, magnesium, iron, and potassium. Its high mineral concentration makes it an ideal tonic treatment for the entire body.
The word rassoul comes from the term "rassala," which means "to wash" in Arab. In Morocco, it is a customary to gift it to young brides.
Rassoul has been used in the Middle East for more than 1,000 years both as a cleaning product and a beauty care treatment for the skin and the hair. Women use it a lot in the hammam for the rhassoul body wrap joined with black soap, the Kessa glove and argan oil.
Rassoul does wonders to make your hair silky, shiny and voluminous. Being one of the best-kept secrets in Morocco, rassoul infuses itself in your scalp with a unique blend of oligo-elements while taking away all impurities.
The double-action exfoliation/hydration property of the wrap keeps all impurities away without drying or irritating the skin.
When used in combination with argan oil, it helps activate the toning and moisturizing properties of argan oil that brings lust and shines in your hair. Furthermore, rassoul purifies and deeply cleanses the hair thanks to its sponge properties, which allow it to absorb dirt. Rassoul used jointly with shampoo help fight dandruff and greasy hair.
How to use rhassoul with the hair:
Rassoul does not replace shampoo, but can be used on greasy hair twice a week, and once a week on dry hair. It will not affect the color of dyed hair.
For an express home treatment, use the rassoul in the shower by applying it on wet hair starting from the scalp and finishing with an evenly application on the whole head. Let the rassoul act without putting any water on the hair for at least five minutes and then rinse the hair before continuing with your shampoo.
During a traditional hammam treatment, the rhassoul is uniformly applied on wet hair. Then, a relaxation session of about 15-20 is suggested followed by a rinse and a scrub. A moisturizing argan oil treatment is then proposed to maximize the beneficial effects.
